A Discord banner is a profile card—not a channel wallpaper
Your Discord user profile shows a 960×540 banner with your circular avatar and profile UI on top. A design that looks perfect full-bleed in Figma can lose the only face or wordmark under that chrome once published.
Correct pixels keep the image sharp after Discord compresses the upload. Soft upscales and tiny type get worse on mobile clients. Export a true 960×540 instead of stretching a Twitch 1200×480 or an X 1500×500 header.
Profile banners are often a Nitro (or eligible) perk. Static avatars are not the same feature. Confirm your account can use a custom banner before you spend time on a campaign asset—then still crop for the real safe zone.

Avatar overlap and profile chrome
Discord draws your circular avatar over part of the profile card. Exact placement can shift slightly by client, but the lower band is never a safe place for the only logo.
Name, badges, and buttons also compete for space. Design as if a solid circle and a strip of UI already own the lower portion of the frame.
- Keep faces and wordmarks out of the lower chrome band.
- Place the hero subject in the upper-mid clear area.
- Leave lower corners quieter so the circle does not fight busy patterns.

Do not reuse other networks’ banners
Twitch channel banners (~1200×480), X headers (1500×500), and LinkedIn covers (1584×396) are different ratios. Stretching them into 960×540 warps faces and pushes type under the Discord avatar.
